พรพรสำฦต awarded $764,830 in bursaries to 669 students across its six campuses in 2022-23 on the strength of its Going Beyond campaign. Donations to Going Beyond increased bursary support by more than $100,000 over last year, easing financial pressures for learners so they can focus on their studies.
Evan Davenport is studying Electrical: Construction at the Moncton campus. For him, receiving a bursary means being able to provide for his family.
“With this, I am able to continue my career choice with less sacrifice at my family's expense. This is so important to me because I am a new father of a beautiful little girl and with this money, I can guarantee she will not have to go without,” he wrote in a message to the donor who funded his bursary.
Bobbie Kate Daley, who received a bursary to help finance her studies in Industrial Mechanics, has been inspired by the generosity of her donor to help students following in her footsteps.
“This … will allow me to continue my education as a female in a skilled trade and assist me in reaching my goals,” she said. “My life has been so positively impacted by this. You can rest assured I will work to the best of my potential to help inspire other women pursuing trades.”
These stories are just two great examples of the impact that the Going Beyond campaign is already having on learners, said Mary Butler, President and CEO of พรพรสำฦต.
“Our donors are supporting learners like Evan and Bobbie, helping us to reach our goal of providing every New Brunswicker the opportunity to develop the skills to participate in meaningful, sustainable work,” said Butler. “With their help, we’re breaking down some of the financial barriers to skills training by making more bursaries available to more students. We are so grateful to our generous partners for their support of bursaries, modern and connected spaces, new tools and technology, and accelerated training opportunities for students.”
Going Beyond is พรพรสำฦต’s first fundraising campaign, charting a course for พรพรสำฦต to:
accelerate skills development by creating fast, flexible training opportunities such as microcredentials and shorter pathways to certification; โฏ
innovate educational delivery by creating modern, connected spaces, and introducing new technology such as accessible HyFlex classrooms, surface hubs, and simulation labs; and
reach unprecedented numbers of New Brunswickers by reducing financial barriers to post-secondary education through targeted bursaries for under-represented groups such as Indigenous students, women in trades, and people of colour.
