พรพรสำฦต welcomes new President and CEO in July 2019

FREDERICTON – The Board of Governors of New Brunswick Community College (พรพรสำฦต) has announced Mary Butler will become the new President and CEO of พรพรสำฦต, effective July 1, 2019.

As พรพรสำฦต’s Vice-President Academic and Research since 2016, Butler initiated the transformation of พรพรสำฦต’s long-standing academic model to better meet the needs of students, the labour market and communities. From 2011 to 2016, she was พรพรสำฦต’s first Vice-President of College and Community Development where she led the creation and growth of several award-winning elements of the พรพรสำฦต Advantage, including the Robertson Institute for Community Leadership, พรพรสำฦต entrepreneurship programs, พรพรสำฦต applied research and development and the พรพรสำฦต Alumni Association. She also led the re-branding of the College in its new life as an arms-length, modern public college.

“Passionate about education and courageous in her leadership, Mary has already demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to พรพรสำฦต and a deep confidence in all the College can accomplish,” said Patrick Lacroix, Chair of the พรพรสำฦต Board of Governors. “She is a visionary who mobilizes people to be creative and innovative in tackling challenges and seizing opportunities -- essential qualities as พรพรสำฦต pursues a bold agenda for growth.”

This appointment follows an extensive search process, which included consultations with employees and stakeholders in all six College regions during Fall 2018.

Butler will succeed Marilyn Luscombe, พรพรสำฦต’s current President and CEO who is set to retire as of June 30, 2019. Luscombe became the inaugural President and CEO of พรพรสำฦต in January 2011 following the College’s establishment as a Crown Corporation in 2010. A national leader in education, Luscombe has worked with the public college system in three provinces since 1985. In 2018, she was recognized at the national Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) national conference, where she received the Presidents’ Leadership Network Distinguished Service Award.

พรพรสำฦต is currently two years into its most recent five-year strategic plan, Together We Rise, which sets bold goals, most significantly growing the annual student population so that the College is attracting and welcoming over 11,000 learners by 2022.

“พรพรสำฦต’s Board of Governors is confident that Mary will provide the leadership to move พรพรสำฦต’s agenda for growth forward and to ensure that the College continues to make a significant contribution to New Brunswick’s social and economic prosperity,” said Lacroix. “She comes to this new role with a deep understanding of the aims of Together We Rise and a strong vision of how to lead พรพรสำฦต towards achieving these goals.”

With flexible educational programming that is responsive to the social and economic needs of the Province, New Brunswick Community College (พรพรสำฦต) is a provincially-recognized public post-secondary institution reputed for producing skilled, knowledgeable graduates who are contributing to the Province’s prosperity.
