FREDERICTON – New Brunswick Community College (พรพรสำฦต) students and apprentices brought home five medals from the recent national Skills Canada competition.
The competition, now in its 24th year, was held in Edmonton, AB on June 4th-5th. Students and apprentices competed in several skilled trades sectors, including machining, plumbing, electrical installations, brick masonry, automotive service, pipefitting and sheet metal work.
Team New Brunswick sent 37 participants this year, including 12 students and apprentices from พรพรสำฦต. Team New Brunswick had their best showing yet, bringing home 12 medals in total.
พรพรสำฦต students and apprentices were pivotal to Team NB’s success, winning four silver medals and a bronze.
Aaron Johnson, an apprentice at พรพรสำฦต Woodstock Campus, won a silver in Electrical Installations; Ashley Ritchie, an apprentice at พรพรสำฦต Woodstock, took the silver in Brick Masonry; Justin McGrath, an apprentice at พรพรสำฦต Saint John, earned a silver medal in the Steamfitter and Pipefitter category; and Carrie Long, an apprentice at พรพรสำฦต Fredericton, brought home the silver in Car Painting. Jon Connors, a student at the Saint John campus, won bronze in Plumbing.
