Two พรพรสำฦต employees honoured for support of inclusive education

FREDERICTON – Darlene Travers and Chris Harris from New Brunswick Community College (พรพรสำฦต) were recently honoured for their support of inclusive education. The National Inclusive Education Awards have recognized outstanding inclusive practices of individuals working in Canada’s education system annually since 2007.

“พรพรสำฦต is committed to supporting the success of diverse learners,” said Suzanne Desrosiers, Vice-President of Employee and Student Development at พรพรสำฦต. “The passion and dedication of individuals such as Darlene and Chris help turn that commitment into reality. They truly embody พรพรสำฦต’s vision of transforming lives and communities.”

Travers, a learning strategist at พรพรสำฦต’s Miramichi Campus, is on the frontlines supporting students. She constantly works to include all students in college life and to assure that students have access to the supports and services they need.

“Allowing all students the opportunity to succeed by removing obstacles and barriers is essential to success,” said Travers. “Seeing students reach their full potential and believing in themselves motivates me each and every day to do what I can to help them fulfil their goals.”

As College Registrar, Harris plays a unique role in managing policies and pathways that ensure accessibility for diverse learners. He is a driving force behind creating an inclusive environment throughout the New Brunswick community college system.

“Everyone should have the opportunity to learn!” said Harris. “Although balancing process, policy, accessibility, and academic preparedness is ultimately an ‘art,’ increasing accessibility to college education is what motivates me every day to find intelligent and creative ways to introduce more pathways for learners.”
