Job skills built through new Parks Canada and New Brunswick Community College partnership

Parks Canada and the New Brunswick Community College (พรพรสำฦต) are working together to create opportunities for students to engage in hands-on learning at Fundy National Park, while developing job skills that are in high demand across New Brunswick.  Through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the partners will collaborate on a variety of skill-building projects that will result in a lasting contribution to Fundy National Park's visitor experience, resource conservation, and external relations programming.

For example, the construction of ‘rustic cabins’ is one way that พรพรสำฦต and Parks Canada have worked together to create meaningful opportunities for students to apply their job skills, while enhancing Fundy National Park’s accommodations offer.  Beginning in 2016, two cabins will be available for use by Fundy National Park’s guests, and were built in collaboration with พรพรสำฦต students of the Moncton campus’ Building and Construction faculty.

Quick Facts

  • Both Parks Canada and พรพรสำฦต wish to maximize opportunities to develop hands-on learning that engages students in activities personally relevant to them, and to foster a sense of pride and connection to the natural and cultural heritage of New Brunswick and Canada.
  • Rustic cabins built by พรพรสำฦต students represent one way that the partners have worked together and will be available for guests in 2016. The cabins are located in “mid-country” locations so guests can enjoy a hike-in camping experience, without the long trek of backcountry wilderness.
  • Looking forward, Fundy National Park and พรพรสำฦต will explore collaborations in the development of various student projects and programs, including student life programming, sustainable energy projects, community and economic development initiatives, and resource conservation projects.
